News Update - August 2010

queen cheque
Carnival Queen Emma Carter receives the sponsors' cheque from Kevin Whelan of Bar vis-a-vis (centre) and Paul Moss of the Holiday Lounge.

Hinckley Carnival Fund paid out cheques of £180 to over 20 charity and voluntary organisations in and around the Hinckley area at the presentation evening held in July.

The event was held at The Clarendon Club, when the trophy for the winning tug-of-war team was also presented and the raffle was drawn. The first prize of a year's health club membership for two at the Hinckley Island Hotel was won by P. Marks, which was presented by hotel staff.

Other prizes included a fantastic chocolate hamper, which was presented by Michael Cosgrove, Thornton’s Hinckley Manager, a signed, framed Leicester City shirt, a Triumph factory tour and a DVD player donated by Argos, which was presented to the winner by the management at the Hinckley store.

In addition to this, a cheque for £1,000 was received from the main sponsors of the 2010 Carnival Queen Competition, Bar vis-à-vis and The Holiday Lounge.

Finally, the Committee would like to pay special thanks to Bar vis-à-vis, Holiday Lounge, The Clarendon Club, Hinckley Working Men’s Club and all the staff and to Glenn Patterson of Custom Enterprises, and say a BIG thank you to Brindley’s Transport, Premier Logistics, Wykin Shires and Balloonatics, for all their help in making the carnival so successful.
