Carnival raises £5,400 for good causes
HINCKLEY Carnival has raised the magnificent total of £5,400 for good causes this year - despite the committee having to re-organise the event due to bad weather.
As a result of the event's success, 30 charities and voluntary organisations have benefited thanks to donations from the committee.
Representatives from the different groups received their cheques at a gala presentation evening held at Hinckley's Clarendon Club.
They were among 200 guests, who were entertained by Paul Maverick and
Matthew and Sons Entertainment – a disco and karaoke company from
Derby, who do a regular gig at Flynn's Bar in Hinckley and who stepped-in
at the 11th hour.
Bond Street Trophies gave the committee a pleasant shock when they attempted to pay for all the trophies for presentation night.
The company refused to accept the money, declaring instead that they wanted to donate all the silverware for the events, demonstrating another fantastic act of generosity that makes this town so great.
